David Boucher
President & Chief Operating Officer
With over 25 years of healthcare administration experience from the perspective of both the health plan and medical facility, David Boucher founded Companion Global Dental. He began his career with BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina in 1981 before leaving the payer community to hold several executive positions within hospitals including CEO of three (3) different facilities with Quorum Health Group.
He returned to BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina in 1999 and now oversees commercial EDI transactions, provider e-Commerce initiatives, provider services, member complementary health programs, and medical management services. Several unique Internet services including STATchat, a Voice over Internet Protocol service for provider assistance, real time claims adjudication, and web precertification have occurred under his leadership.
He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Health Administration in 1980 from Slippery Rock State University (PA) and his Master of Public Health degree from the University of South Carolina in 1982. Boucher is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), is an active member of the South Carolina chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), currently serves on the board of directors of the Columbia Free Medical Clinic, and is active with the Spring Valley Rotary Club.
Phil Midden Operations Manager Phil Midden brings a variety of experiences to Companion Global Dental including time at Weathernews, Inc., GE Power Systems and WestPoint Stevens. He arrived at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina in 2003 and helped develop a managed vision product for large group accounts. He also spent significant time expanding the marketing of value-added discount programs as the Manager of Complementary Healthcare Programs.
He earned a BS in Atmospheric Science from Creighton University and an MBA from Clemson University. He is a licensed Life and Health insurance producer in South Carolina and holds the Fellow, Academy for Healthcare Management designation (FAHM). Mr. Midden has also completed training with the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). He is active with the Spring Valley Rotary Club.
